,

We are now in the final six weeks before our virtual conference ‘Our Living Landscape: Communities Leading Change’ on the 18th August.

For those of you who haven’t visited, here is a little information on the scheme:

“Coigach & Assynt Living Landscape (CALL) is based in the far north west of Scotland and covers the largest area of any such partnership in the country. At its heart is a group of community, charity and private landowners and charities working together to improve both the economic and environmental prospects of this very remote part of Scotland.”  Further information can be found at www.coigach-assynt.org/.

Over the past five years we have been delivering a programme of over 30 projects, with Scottish Wildlife Trust as the lead partner, and supported though the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Projects have included upgrading and creating almost 13km of paths, including routes over the iconic mountains of Quinag and Suilven; nearly 600ha of native woodlands planted and managed; innovative training programmes for deer management and crofters; and an outdoor woodland learning project that has worked with every school in the area.

As this current programme comes to an end, CALL Partnership are holding this conference to showcase what has been achieved and share the scheme’s experiences and knowledge. Included in this day will be talks from our partners on their individual projects, such as the Woodland Trust on our Woodland Expansion project, Historic Assynt sharing experiences from Clachtoll Broch excavations, and some of our Community Grant Scheme recipients with their individual projects’ outputs. There will also be presentations that look to the future, including from our Scheme Manager, Scottish Wildlife Trust, John Muir Trust, and the Woodland Trust on projects progressing after September, and future opportunities. Our finalised agenda will be announced shortly.

There is still plenty of time to sign up for your free ticket for our event. Just go to https://register.coigach-assyntconference.com/ and enter your details to be kept informed with progress as we continue towards the event. Any queries can be directed to coigach-assyntconference@scottishwildlifetrust.org.

Hope you can Join us on the 18th August 😊
